Daily Record Bingo review

The only site on our list that gives you something before any money goes in, and the one carrying the network’s million-pound rooms

Advertising disclosure

This page carries advertising. The “Visit site” buttons are affiliate links: when a reader opens an account through one, the operator pays us a commission. It costs the reader nothing. No operator pays for its position on this site, and none sees a page before it is published: the order follows the regulatory frame and the bingo on offer. How we review, and how we are paid.

Daily Record Bingo is the bingo site of a Glasgow newspaper founded in 1895, run under licence by Jumpman Gaming. It is on our list for one specific reason before any other: it is the only site we track that gives you free spins on registration, with no deposit and no card payment, which makes it the cheapest honest way to see what a Jumpman bingo lobby is like.

The name has a longer history than the site. There has been a Daily Record bingo product since 2009, originally on Dragonfish software; what exists now was relaunched in 2021 on Jumpman’s platform, which means the reviews you will find dated before that are describing a different thing.

The name on the door

Reach plc, the newspaper group, puts its titles on gambling brands and Jumpman operates them. The licence, the terms, the cashier and the rooms are Jumpman’s; the masthead is the Record’s. Express Wins, on our list too, is the same arrangement with the Daily Express.

Worth knowing for the practical reason we give on every white label: the company in the terms, the company a complaint goes to and the company the Commission licenses is Jumpman Gaming Limited, of La Corvee House, Alderney. The paper is the brand, not the operator. It is not irregular — the Commission’s register marks it — but it is not what the name suggests either.

The rooms, and the million-pound ones

Pragmatic Play bingo in four formats: thirty, seventy-five, eighty and ninety-ball. The site is bingo-first, which shows in the lobby — the rooms are the front page rather than a tab — and there are a thousand-odd slots, tables and live dealers behind them.

The Bingo Millions rooms are the draw. They carry a jackpot seeded above a million pounds, pooled across the network rather than funded here, and they are the reason a site with a few thousand players can advertise a seven-figure prize. Two things follow from that and neither is on the banner: the odds are the network’s, which means much longer than a room of this size would suggest, and the ticket price in those rooms is higher than in the ordinary ones. A seeded jackpot is at least a real number — it is a contractual floor, not a running total — which is more than can be said for most prize figures in this trade.

Deposits, withdrawals and the fee

Sterling only, £10 in and £10 out, debit cards and the usual wallets, no credit cards. The £2.50 withdrawal fee applies here as everywhere on the network. Promotions run on a timetable — a deposit-triggered wheel, a reel at a higher deposit, happy hours midweek — which is the Jumpman pattern and is worth more than the welcome if you play regularly.

The offer, and what it asks for

Twenty free spins land when you register, before any deposit. That is the part worth having, and it is unusual: of the fourteen licensed sites we track, three give anything before a deposit and this is the most straightforward of the three.

The deposit welcome is a hundred per cent match across the first three deposits with a cap per deposit, at ten times wagering, with a conversion cap on what the bonus can become. A match is a better shape than a prize wheel because the figure is a rule rather than a draw, and this is one of the few on the network that uses one. We are still not printing the amount, because the deadline was not on the offer page when we checked, and a bonus figure without all four terms is not a figure we will publish.

How Daily Record Bingo scores

Ten criteria, each scored on its own. A grid that is full marks all the way down is not a review, it is a banner, so where this one gives three out of five the paragraph above says why.

Ten criteria, scored separately. Average 3.8 out of 5.

What it does well, and what it does not

In its favour

  • Free spins on registration with no deposit and no payment — rare and genuinely useful
  • A match welcome rather than a prize wheel, so the shape of the offer is a rule
  • Bingo Millions rooms carry a seeded network jackpot above £1 million
  • Bingo-first lobby: the rooms are the site, not a tab on a slot lobby

Against it

  • £2.50 on every withdrawal, the same as the rest of the network
  • The masthead is a newspaper’s, the operator is Jumpman — the terms are Jumpman’s terms
  • The jackpot odds are the network’s, not the room’s, which the room does not say
  • The operator paid a £500,000 Commission settlement in May 2022, before Super Group bought it

Questions readers ask

Do I really get free spins with no deposit?

Yes, on registration, and that is confirmed on the site’s own page. As with every no-deposit offer the winnings arrive as bonus credit with a playthrough and a conversion cap, so treat it as a free look at the site rather than a way to win.

Is this the same as the old Daily Record bingo site?

No. There has been a Daily Record bingo product since 2009, on Dragonfish software. What exists now was relaunched in 2021 on the Jumpman platform. Reviews dated before 2021 describe a different site.

What are the Bingo Millions rooms?

Rooms carrying a jackpot seeded above a million pounds and pooled across the Jumpman network. The ticket price is higher than in ordinary rooms and the odds are the network’s rather than the room’s.

Who do I complain to if something goes wrong?

Jumpman Gaming Limited first, as the licensee. If it will not settle, eCOGRA is the named alternative dispute resolution body, and the Gambling Commission can be told about the operator’s conduct though it will not recover money for you.
