Bingo chat hosts
The person running the room, the games they run alongside the bingo, and what the job actually pays
This page carries advertising. The “Visit site” buttons are affiliate links: when a reader opens an account through one, the operator pays us a commission. It costs the reader nothing. No operator pays for its position on this site, and none sees a page before it is published: the order follows the regulatory frame and the bingo on offer. How we review, and how we are paid.
Who the host is
A chat host — CH in the room, or CM for chat moderator — is an employee or contractor of the operator who sits in the bingo room while games run. The job has two halves. One is moderation: keeping the room civil, enforcing the chat rules, and watching for players in distress, which on a licensed site is a formal responsibility rather than a courtesy. The other is entertainment: running games alongside the bingo, welcoming new names, and keeping a room of strangers talking during a four-minute draw.
They are the reason a bingo room is different from a slot, and they are also the thing that separates a bingo site from a casino with a bingo tab. Of the sites we track, Dove Bingo has hosts who run games rather than post announcements; Free Spins Bingo runs its rooms with no chat at all. Both are on the same software.
Chat games
A chat game is a side game run by the host in the chat window, with small prizes in bonus credit, free tickets or loyalty points. They cost nothing to enter and they exist to give the room something to do between calls.
The common ones: 1TG, 2TG, 3TG — a prize for whoever is one, two or three numbers from a win when someone else takes the house. Lucky numbers, where you claim a number at the start and win if it is the last call. Riddles and quizzes, answered in the chat. Word scrambles and countdowns. Most of these are automatic in modern software — 1TG in particular is usually paid by the system rather than the host — but the host announces them, and that announcement is most of what makes a room feel staffed.
The rules of a bingo chat
Every licensed site publishes chat rules and enforces them, and the list is much the same everywhere: no abuse, no discussion of other operators, no talking about how much you have won or lost, no requests for or offers of money, no capital letters for whole messages, and nothing that would be out of place in a room with a wide age range in it.
The rule about winnings surprises people, and it has a reason. A room where people post their balances turns into a room where losses are visible and comparison is constant, and the operator has a licence condition about protecting vulnerable players. The hosts enforce it quickly.
The shorthand is a language of its own and our page on bingo lingo lists it. The ones you will need in the first ten minutes: GL (good luck), WD (well done), TY (thank you), BRB, 1TG, and WTG (way to go).
Becoming a chat host
It is a real job, advertised by operators and by the platforms behind them, and it is one of the few in gambling that can be done from home. Shifts are evenings and weekends, because that is when rooms are busy. The work is typing: welcoming players, running the chat games, answering questions about how the site works, and escalating anything that looks like a problem to the operator’s safer gambling team.
What is asked for is fast accurate typing, a steady temperament, and the willingness to work the hours. Pay is usually hourly and modest; the listings we have seen sit at or a little above minimum wage, sometimes with a bonus tied to room activity. The licensed operators train hosts on safer gambling because the licence requires it, and that part of the job — noticing a player who is in trouble and knowing what to do — is the part the listings understate.
Roles are advertised on the operators’ own careers pages and through the platform companies rather than on the bingo sites themselves. Jumpman, Gamesys and 888 all employ hosts in Britain.

Questions readers ask
What does CH mean in bingo chat?
Chat host — the member of staff running the room. CM, for chat moderator, means the same thing. They are employees of the operator, not players.
Do chat games cost anything to enter?
No. They run alongside the bingo in the chat window and the prizes are usually bonus credit, free tickets or loyalty points. They are free because they exist to keep the room busy between games.
Why can’t I talk about my winnings in bingo chat?
Every licensed site’s chat rules prohibit it. A room where balances are posted becomes a room where losses are visible and comparison is constant, and operators have a licence condition about protecting vulnerable players.
How much does a bingo chat host earn?
Hourly, at or a little above minimum wage in most British listings, sometimes with a bonus tied to room activity. Shifts are evenings and weekends, and the work can usually be done from home.
Which sites still have chat hosts?
Among the sites we track, the bingo-first ones: Dove Bingo and Daily Record Bingo. Free Spins Bingo runs its rooms without chat at all, and the slot-first sites have thin chat or none.
