50-ball bingo

Two rows of five, a line and a full house, and exactly one site on our list that has it

Advertising disclosure

This page carries advertising. The “Visit site” buttons are affiliate links: when a reader opens an account through one, the operator pays us a commission. It costs the reader nothing. No operator pays for its position on this site, and none sees a page before it is published: the order follows the regulatory frame and the bingo on offer. How we review, and how we are paid.

The ticket

A fifty-ball ticket is two rows of five: ten numbers from a draw of fifty. It is the simplest ticket in bingo after thirty-ball, and the numbers are banded by column in the usual way, five columns of ten.

A game runs about two minutes, which puts it alongside eighty-ball and well short of ninety-ball. With ten numbers out of fifty on your ticket, roughly a fifth of every call is yours, which is a higher hit rate than any other format and is what makes the game feel busy despite its length.

What wins

Two prizes: a line — either of the two rows of five — and the full house, all ten. The draw continues after the line, as in ninety-ball, so a ticket that misses the first prize is still live for the second. The split is usually weighted heavily towards the house.

Some rooms run it as full house only, which turns it into a slightly longer speed game. The room rules say which, and they are worth opening because the two are different games at the same ticket price.

Why it is rare

Fifty-ball has no hall tradition, no distinctive mechanic, and nothing it does that eighty-ball does not do with more visual interest. It was a Virtue Fusion format originally and it has survived mostly on inertia. Of the fourteen licensed sites we track, one runs it: Free Spins Bingo, which lists ninety, eighty, seventy-five, fifty and thirty-ball and has the widest spread on the network because of it.

If you want to try it, that is where. Be aware that the same site runs its rooms without chat, which for some players is the attraction and for others removes the point — our review goes into it.
